CheapTweet Help: Frequently Asked Questions

What is CheapTweet?

CheapTweet is real-time online source for deals and coupons. Our search engine constantly scans Twitter for all the best coupons, sales and discounts that people are tweeting about, and then we filter through them and post them here. Best of all, it's free to use!

How does CheapTweet work?

Our technology automatically finds any mention of a sale or coupon on Twitter. We collect all those deals here at CheapTweet.com, where anyone can easily find them. We filter and categorize the deals before posting them, to help you find what you're looking for quickly and easily.

CheapTweet users can click the blue It's Cheap button to let others know that a deal is good. The most highly rated deals move to the Cheapest Tweets section of our site, so you can always see what's popular. The number of Cheaps next to a deal is how many votes it's gotten; the more Cheaps a deal has, the more popular that deal is.

But that's not all... CheapTweet also uses the power of Twitter. If lots of people talk about a deal, that also contributes to a deal getting on the Cheapest Tweets list. Spammers beware though; we're filtering you out.

How do I find deals?

There are a few ways to find the deals you're looking for on CheapTweet. First, we post the most popular deals of the day on our front page, in our Cheapest Tweets sections. Second, you can browse through our various deal categories. Finally, you can search for the exact deal you're looking for.

Do I need an account to find deals on CheapTweet?

Nope, you don't have to have an account to use CheapTweet. But, you can sign up for an account to keep track of your voting history and save your favorite deals for later. Plus, we've got some very cool features coming out soon that you'll need an account to use.

How do I get my tweets included?

Why aren't you finding my tweets?

There are a few reasons our search engine might not find your deals. First, are you being listed in Twitter search? If you're not in Twitter search, we can't find your tweets. Check with Twitter to see what might be happening. If you are in search, but we missed one of your tweets, it might not fulfill our deal tweet criteria. If you think your deal should be on the site, just let us know and we'll add it!

Who makes CheapTweet?

Appozite does. We hope you like it!

Is CheapTweet Associated with Twitter?

We're not associated with, supported by or in a business relationship with Twitter. Like many sites, we use their public API. If there's anything you don't like on CheapTweet or are having trouble with, it's our fault, not Twitter's. However, we do love Twitter. If you don't have an account, get one and it'll change your life for the better.

What is the CheapTweet DealStream?

Every day, we filter through about 20,000 deal tweets to add more than 10,000 new deals to the site. The DealStream filters through all of these deals - more than 5 million deals overall - to find the perfect deals just for you. The DealStream is a real-time feed of personalized recommendations you set up. You can set your preferences for what kinds of deals you want to see - you can follow certain brands or stores, as well as different kinds of products or keywords. The CheapTweet DealStream helps you find what you want quickly and easily.

How do I set up and refine my DealStream?

Getting started with the DealStream is simple. You can tweak these settings later, so just pick some to get things started. You'll need a CheapTweet account, so sign up here if you don't have one already (or sign in to your existing account here). When you first sign into your account after clicking on the DealStream link, you’ll be taken to the initial DealStream setup page. Setting up your DealStream takes less than a minute.

  1. What general categories interest you? Check as many as you like. If you check on a top-level category, like Fashion & Beauty, we’ll automatically fill in the sub-categories. If you’re only interested in one or two sub-categories under a top-level category, just check those.
  2. Enter in some keywords to refine your DealStream. You can get as specific as you want here. Type in words or phrases that describe the names of stores, brands, or products you like.
  3. Once you’ve entered your preferences, click the “I’m done” button to see the deals we’ve found for you.

You can update these prefences at any time, so you're not locked into what you set up initially. Play around with it, see what works for you.

You can further refine your DealStream in two ways: voting on deals and editing the categories and keywords you selected. Click the thumbs up button on deals you like. Click thumbs down button on deals you don’t like. When you give a deal the thumbs down, you can also tell us why you don't like it. Just click on the pink gear that appears when you click thumbs down, then tell us more about why you didn't like that deal. All this helps us know what deals to show you next time. At any time, you can edit the categories and keywords you are following. Just click Edit next to categories or keywords and make any changes you'd like.

How do I see my DealStream?

Once you’ve set up your DealStream, you can see the deals it has found for you in several ways. You can always log back into CheapTweet and click on the DealStream button on the top left of the page. You can also get an RSS feed of your DealStream. Just click on the “DealStream Feed” link on the right side of your DealStream page. Then you can set up the DealStream RSS feed in your favorite feed reader.
